20th Century StudiosA full-scale digital platform for 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox) that consolidates the studio's entire film catalog into a single, browsable destination. The site gives users a visually rich way to discover, explore, and transact across decades of content, all within a responsive experience optimized for performance across devices.
Problem Statement
20th Century Studios had a massive film library with no unified digital home. Users had no single place to browse the full catalog, discover titles, and take action. The information architecture challenge was significant. Decades of content spanning every genre, franchise, and format needed to be organized in a way that felt intuitive rather than overwhelming. On top of that, the brand demanded a highly visual experience. Hero imagery, poster art, and stills were critical to the storytelling, but couldn't come at the cost of mobile performance. We needed to strike the right balance between visual density and page speed without asking users to compromise on either.
The Approach
We started with the information architecture, mapping content taxonomies and defining a navigation model that could scale across thousands of titles without cognitive overload. Search and filtering patterns were designed to support both intent-driven users who knew exactly what they wanted and browse-oriented users who were just exploring. Visual hierarchy played a central role in the UI. We leaned into large-format imagery and cinematic layouts while implementing lazy loading, responsive image serving, and performance budgets to protect load times on mobile. Every layout decision was stress-tested against real content to make sure the design held up when populated at scale, not just with curated samples.
The Outcome
The final product is a clean, visually immersive platform that makes a catalog of thousands of films feel approachable. Users can search, filter, browse, and transact with minimal friction. The information architecture scales gracefully, the imagery lands with the impact the brand requires, and mobile performance stays fast. It stands as a single source of truth for the studio's content and a direct channel between the brand and its audience.
